Your company doesn't need an AI strategy
It needs a business strategy that accounts for AI.
There is a genre of document circulating in mid-sized companies right now called the AI Strategy. It is usually forty slides, it contains a maturity model, and it ends with a pilot.
Nobody ever wrote an Electricity Strategy.
The category error
AI is not a strategic direction. It is a capability that changes the cost and speed of certain kinds of work. Your strategy is still about which customers you serve, what you are better at than others, and where you invest.
The right question is narrower and harder: given our strategy, where does this capability change the economics?
What replaces it
A short list of prioritised opportunities, an owner for each, a budget, and a date. That fits on one page and is significantly more difficult to write than forty slides.
